Corfu

Kerkyra is one of the northern islands of the Ionian Sea. It is located in the beginning of the Adriatic Sea near the Mainland.

The north-east coast is about 2 km away from the coast of Saints Saranta of Albania.

It has a long shape, wider in the northern part of it, that becomes narrow as you go to its southern part. Its coast is 217 km in length and many bays and capes are formed. Its ground is mainly mountainous especially in the northern part. Foreigners call it “Corfu” due to the two mountain tops that are visible as someone approaches the island. The highest are those of Pantokratoras (ancient Istoni, 914 m) and Stravoskiadi (849 m).

It is one of the most densely populated islands of the Mediterranean sea with a population of 193 inhabitants per square kilometer.
